How to Hire a Supercar in Marbella

The short answer

Hiring a supercar in Marbella normally needs four things: a full driving licence held at least 2 years, a passport or ID, a credit card in the main driver's name for the deposit (€3,000–€15,000 by authorisation), and a confirmed booking with a written daily rate. With us the minimum age is 25, delivery is free across the Marbella area, Málaga Airport handover is €150 each way, and 250 km per day is included.

The hiring process, step by step

The sequence below is the one we actually run. None of it is unusual, but knowing the order saves a wasted afternoon — and if a company cannot follow it, that tells you something before you pay.

First, decide what you want from the car: presence, pace, roof-down driving, or space for four with luggage. Those four answers point at different vehicles, and a company that only has one car will sell you that car regardless of the answer.

Second, fix your dates and your collection point. Delivery to a villa or hotel is normal on this coast; airport handover is the alternative if you are flying in. Give the exact address when you book, because the delivery window is agreed from it.

Third, ask for the rate in writing, with the deposit and the mileage allowance, and read the excess figure before you commit. "From €X" is not a price; the price is the number on the confirmation.

Fourth, send your documents in advance. Most delays at handover are documents arriving late, not cars arriving late.

Fifth, take the walk-round at handover. Look at the car with the person handing it over, note anything you can see, and keep the copy of the condition report. This is the single most useful thing you do during the whole rental.

Documents and who can drive

You need a full driving licence held for at least 2 years, your passport or national ID card, and a credit card in the main driver's name for the deposit authorisation. The minimum age with us is 25 — a rule set by insurers rather than preference, and one you should assume applies at every serious operator on this coast.

If your licence is not in Latin script you will also need an International Driving Permit. Spanish roadside checks ask for it alongside the licence, and not having it is a straightforward way to turn a good week into a tedious one.

Additional drivers should be declared at booking rather than added later, so they can be included in the insurance. If someone else will drive the car, tell us before the handover, not after.

What it costs and what the deposit really is

Prices on this coast exclude VAT, and daily rates rise sharply in July, August and the event weeks. Beyond season, three things move the number: how long you hire for, where the car is delivered, and which car it is. Longer hires are quoted in bands — 1–3 days, 4–14 days, 14 days plus — and the effective daily cost falls as the hire gets longer.

The deposit is the part most often misread. It is taken as an authorisation on a credit card rather than a charge: the amount is held against your card limit and released after the car is returned and inspected. With us the range is €3,000–€15,000 depending on the car and the hire length. Debit cards often cannot carry an authorisation of that size, which is why the card has to be a credit card in the main driver's name.

Mileage is the other number to fix up front: 250 km per day is included, and additional kilometres are charged per kilometre. If your plan includes Granada, Seville or Gibraltar, agree the allowance when you book so the conversation does not happen at the end of the hire.

Delivery, airport handover and timings

On the Costa del Sol, delivery is the normal way to collect a hire car rather than an extra. We deliver and collect free across Marbella, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro Alcántara and Estepona. Málaga Airport (AGP) is €150 each way. Any movement outside 08:00–20:30 carries a €100 surcharge, so a car collected and returned out of hours costs €200 more than the same hire inside them.

Airport handover works best when you give us your flight number: the car is timed to the landing rather than to a fixed hour, which means no waiting on the kerb if your flight is late. Delivery to a villa is faster — usually a matter of minutes of paperwork rather than a queue.

The car arrives fuelled and cleaned, with the documents you need for a roadside check in the folder. Ask any question you have at that point; it is much easier to answer them at the villa than over WhatsApp at midnight.

Insurance, excess and what happens if something goes wrong

Insurance cover and the excess that applies to your hire are set out in the rental agreement. The figure that matters is the excess — the amount you are liable for in the event of damage — and the correct time to read it is before you sign, not after an incident.

We send the agreement before pickup so you can read it while there is still time to ask questions. If a company will not show you the excess until you are standing at the counter with a flight to catch, treat that as information about the company.

If something does go wrong, call the number in the folder immediately, before moving the car or arranging anything yourself. Every hire from us includes a 24/7 WhatsApp line for exactly this reason.

Red flags when booking

Fake or unbookable inventory is the biggest problem in this market. A page showing a Lamborghini, a McLaren, a Rolls-Royce and a Ferrari all at similar attractive rates, with no registration years and no condition detail, is usually a lead-capture form rather than a fleet.

Four specific things to check: is the model year stated; is there a written rate for your exact dates; is the damage excess disclosed before payment; and can the company tell you plainly which cars it holds today. If a listing cannot answer all four, you are not booking a car, you are joining a list.

A fifth: availability claims. One car means one booking. If two companies both show the same car available on the same date, at least one of them is guessing. Our own Ferrari page says outright that we hold one Ferrari — that is what honest inventory looks like.

Returning the car

Return it at the agreed time and place, with the fuel level it arrived with, having checked the condition with the person collecting it. Fuel policies are the most common avoidable charge: if the car arrived full, return it full, and keep the receipt.

The deposit authorisation is released after the inspection. Release timing is set by your card issuer, so the authorisation may sit on your statement for a few days after the car is back — that is normal, and it is not a charge.

If you are flying out, give yourself room before the flight for the airport return, fuel stop included.

The five-minute checklist at handover:

  • Walk round the car with the person handing it over and photograph anything you see.
  • Check the fuel level and the mileage recorded on the condition report.
  • Confirm the return time and place, and whether it is inside or outside office hours.
  • Put the emergency number and our WhatsApp line into your phone.
  • Ask where the documents are so they are not buried in a suitcase at the first check.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best luxury car rental in Marbella for a special occasion
For a special occasion the car matters less than the certainty: book a car that is actually in the fleet, on the dates you need, with the price in writing. In ours, the Ferrari Roma Spider is the occasion car at €2,500 per day, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet is the open-top alternative at €850, and the Mercedes-Benz G 63 S is the one that looks like an arrival. If a proposal, a birthday or a photoshoot is the plan, tell us and we will plan the handover time and the delivery point around it instead of leaving it to a counter.
What do I need to hire a supercar in Marbella?
A full driving licence held at least 2 years, a passport or ID, and a credit card in the main driver's name for the deposit authorisation. Minimum age 25. If your licence is not in Latin script, bring an International Driving Permit.
How much is the deposit?
€3,000–€15,000, taken as a card authorisation rather than a charge, depending on the car and the length of the hire. It is released after the car is returned and inspected.
Is VAT included in the price?
No — our advertised rates exclude VAT. Ask for the final figure with VAT for your dates when you request your written quote.
Can I pay by debit card?
The deposit has to be authorised on a credit card in the main driver's name. Debit cards often cannot hold an authorisation of that size.
Is delivery to my hotel or villa included?
Yes, free in Marbella, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro Alcántara and Estepona. Málaga Airport is €150 each way and movements outside 08:00–20:30 carry a €100 surcharge per movement.

Cancellation is free up to 7 days before pickup. Within 7 days, 50% is charged. A no-show is charged in full.
How many kilometres can I drive?
250 km per day is included. Additional kilometres are charged per kilometre — agree a longer allowance with us in advance if you are planning a multi-day route.
Can someone else drive the car?
Yes, if they are declared and insured at booking and meet the same age and licence requirements. Tell us before handover.
