Is a McLaren actually available on the Costa del Sol?
McLarens are thin on the ground in Andalusia. The cars are rare here, expensive to keep insured for hire, and most of the listings you will find online are enquiries rather than inventory. We are not going to imply otherwise.
Our position is simple: we do not advertise a McLaren because we do not hold one. McLaren requests are handled case by case — give us your dates and the model you have in mind and we will give you a written yes or no, with the exact rate if it is a yes, before any payment is taken. Lamborghini is the one marque where we do hold cars: seven of them, booked direct with our concierge rather than online.
The McLaren day trip people ask for
The request we get most often is a single day: collect in the morning, drive the mountain road to Ronda, lunch there, and be back in Marbella or Puerto Banús for the evening. That is a genuine 200–250 km day, which is why 250 km per day is the allowance on every hire we make.
The other version is the coastal one: the A-7 from Marbella towards Estepona, a stop at a beach club, and the return along the same road in the late afternoon light. Shorter, easier, and better with the roof down.
Either way, plan the day rather than improvising it. The A-397 is the better drive in the morning, and the coast road is the better drive before the afternoon traffic builds. Our driving roads near Marbella guide sets out each route properly.
What you can book right now
If the point is the drive, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet at €850 per day does almost everything a McLaren day trip is for: open roof, real pace, and a size that works on the tight mountain road up to Ronda or Istán. If the point is arriving somewhere in something unmistakable, the Mercedes-Benz G63 S or the BMW X5 M Competition at €850 per day do that better than any low-slung sports car.
If it is the exotic-Italian experience you are after, the Ferrari Roma Spider at €2,500 per day is the car in our fleet that delivers it. All rates exclude VAT, all cars are insured and active today, and every one can be delivered to a villa, a hotel or the airport.
| Car | Seats | Best for | Daily rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ferrari Roma Spider | 2 (+2 occasional) | Coast-road driving, proposals and photoshoots | €2,500 / day |
| Porsche 911 Cabriolet | 4 | Open-top coast runs; a couple or two friends | €850 / day |
| Mercedes-Benz G 63 S | 5 | Presence in Puerto Banús; groups with luggage | €850 / day |
| BMW X5 M Competition | 5 | Four adults and bags on a long day trip | €850 / day |
| Audi SQ7 | 7 | Families and groups; airport runs with luggage | €500 / day |
Conditions for a McLaren request or any hire
The commercial terms are the same whether you take a car we hold or one we source by arrangement. Minimum age 25 with a full licence held at least 2 years. Security deposit €3,000–€15,000 by card authorisation in the main driver's name, released after the car is returned and inspected. 250 km per day included, additional kilometres charged per kilometre.
Delivery and collection are free in Marbella, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro Alcántara and Estepona. Málaga Airport (AGP) is €150 each way, and movements outside 08:00–20:30 carry a €100 surcharge per movement. Free cancellation up to 7 days before pickup, 50% within 7 days, full charge for a no-show.
Bring your licence, your passport or ID, and a card in the main driver's name. A licence that is not in Latin script needs an International Driving Permit alongside it.
Documents, insurance and roadside checks
The rental agreement we hand you at collection is what a roadside check in Spain wants to see, along with your licence and ID. Insurance cover and the excess that applies to your hire are set out in that agreement, and we send it before pickup so the excess figure is not a surprise.
Speed limits on the mountain roads are enforced, and the A-7 has sections with average-speed cameras. Take the routes at the pace the road allows: the A-397 is enjoyable at a fraction of what the car can do.
What to keep in the car with you:
- Your driving licence and, if it is not in Latin script, your International Driving Permit.
- Your passport or identity document.
- The rental agreement and insurance documents from the handover folder.
- Our WhatsApp line saved — 24/7 for the whole rental if anything goes wrong.
Frequently asked questions
- How to rent a McLaren for a day trip in Costa del Sol
- Day trip or not, the answer starts the same way: McLarens are not in our own fleet, so step one is a written yes or no on a 720S or an Artura for your exact dates. If it is a yes, the trip is straightforward — Marbella to Malaga is 35-40 minutes up the A-7, the coast road back adds the scenery, and our hires include 250 km per day. You need a licence held two years, a minimum age of 25 and a card for the deposit authorisation. If the answer is no, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet is the nearest thing we can hand over the same week.
- What McLaren models are available for rental in Costa del Sol?
- None in our own fleet, and we do not list one to look competitive. The requests we handle are for the 720S and the Artura; for either, we confirm in writing whether a car can be sourced for your dates before any payment is taken.
- What's the cost to rent a McLaren in Costa del Sol?
- We quote a McLaren only once a car is confirmed, because sourcing rates here vary by model, week and notice. Our published fleet runs from €500 to €2,500 per day excluding VAT; a McLaren sourced for you arrives with a written daily rate, mileage allowance and insurance excess attached.
- Can I rent a McLaren for a day trip from Marbella to Málaga?
- Yes, once a car is confirmed: Málaga is about 35–40 minutes up the A-7 from Marbella, and our hires include 250 km per day, which covers Marbella–Málaga–Marbella with room for the coast road on the way back. Confirm the car first, then we plan the route with you.
- Do I need special driving experience to rent a McLaren in Costa del Sol?
- You need a full licence held at least 2 years and a minimum age of 25, and for a car in this class we ask about your recent driving at booking. A mid-engined car with this much power is not the place to learn how 700 hp behaves.
- What's the most popular McLaren model for rent in Costa del Sol?
- The 720S is the one people ask for by name; the Artura, the newer hybrid, is the easier request to satisfy when a car is available. Neither is in our fleet today, so treat any McLaren enquiry as a sourcing job that we answer in writing rather than a car you can book instantly.
- Do you have a McLaren available to rent on the Costa del Sol?
- Not in the bookable fleet today. Send us your dates and we will confirm in writing whether one can be sourced for you, with an exact rate, before any payment is taken.
- How much does a McLaren rental cost in Marbella?
- We do not publish a rate for a car we cannot book. For calibration, our Ferrari Roma Spider is €2,500 per day and our Porsche 911 Cabriolet €850 per day, all excluding VAT. A sourced McLaren would be quoted per request.
- What is the best car for a day trip on the Costa del Sol?
- The Porsche 911 Cabriolet. It covers the A-397 to Ronda and the coastal A-7 with the roof down, and 250 km per day is included, which is enough for Marbella to Ronda and back with stops.
- Can I collect at Málaga Airport instead of Marbella?
- Yes — delivery or collection at Málaga Airport (AGP) is €150 each way, and tell us your flight number so the handover is timed to your landing.
- How many kilometres per day are included?
- 250 km per day. Additional kilometres are charged per kilometre, so if you are planning a longer route tell us at booking and we will agree the allowance in advance.
- What deposit is required for a supercar hire?
- €3,000–€15,000 by card authorisation, released after the car is returned and inspected. It is an authorisation, not a charge.
- Can I take the car outside the Costa del Sol?
- Ronda and the province of Málaga are normal. If you want to go further — Granada, Seville, Gibraltar — agree it with us when booking so the mileage allowance and insurance position are clear in writing.
